General Description
We are looking for a Safety Officer to join our team in South Florida. This position collaborates with Superintendents and Project Managers to administer, direct, and implement compliance with company’s safety and health policies and procedures and Federal and State safety and health regulations. This position is responsible for the overall safety procedures on a project specific level.
Qualifications and Requirements
- US work authorization
- High school degree or equivalent.
- 5+ years of related work experience in field of Construction Health and Safety.
- Strong planning and organizing skills.
- Excellent communication skills both in writing and verbal.
- Clear decision-making ability.
- Proven injury management experience.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Bilingual (Spanish English) preferred.
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 30
- CPR Certification
- AED Certification
- First Aid Certification
Responsibilities
- The Safety Officer is responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations.
- Developing measures to assure personnel safety.
- Correct unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority.
- The Safety Officer maintains awareness of active and developing situations.
- Participate in planning meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in the operations daily work-plan.
- Review the Incident Action Plan for safety implications.
- Investigate accidents that have occurred within incident areas.
- Ensure preparation and implementation of Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP).
- Inspects the site to ensure it is a hazard-free environment.
- Follow up on the implementation of toolbox meetings.
- The safety officer reviews and approves all subcontractor’s safety plans.
- Verifies that injury logs and reports are completed and submitted to related government agencies.
- Verifies that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.
- Promotes safe practices at the job site.
- Enforces safety guidelines.
- Trains and conducts drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
- Conducts investigations of all accidents and near-misses.
- Implement safety measurements/metrics for tracking and reporting safety performance.
- Conduct new hire safety orientations.
