For the fifteenth year, Julius A. Hader, Vice President of Business Development at Bengoa Construction, chairs the scholarship committee for South Florida’s ICRI awards, an organization empowering and supporting the next generation of concrete restoration professionals.
South Florida’s International Concrete Repair Institute is dedicated to improving the quality of concrete restoration. Bengoa is proudly a member of this organization that places a high focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in addition to supporting opportunities for the next generation to learn and advance our industry.
Bengoa has long been committed to the advancement of the concrete restoration field. It’s our duty to evolve as new challenges arise — from combating crumbling infrastructure to adopting new technology. By supporting this scholarship, we can grow the next generation of talent and develop a skilled workforce to spur industry growth, decrease skill gaps, and raise standards in every facet of concrete repair.
To serve in our shared mission, Julius A. Hader, Bengoa’s VP of Business Development, will again serve as chair for ICRI’s annual scholarship awards. Hader will bring his leadership and expertise in the concrete industry to guide scholarship efforts and help select the recipients based on academic performance, promise in the field of concrete restoration, and dedication to infrastructure resilience.
“The concrete repair and restoration industry is critical to maintain the long-term safety of public infrastructure. The next generation is already exploring methods and techniques to advance our industry — it’s vital that we support their academic journeys and empower them to shape the future,” says Hader.
The ICRI scholarship is not only an avenue to support outstanding students in undergraduate degree programs related to concrete design, materials, and/or construction. It’s also an opportunity to invest in safer and more durable concrete restoration and protection. These students are actively working on efficient, innovative new techniques, and by supporting their education, the scholarship supports a stronger future.
Last year’s recipients included standout young students who are pursuing careers in concrete restoration. These individuals were selected for their work in structural engineering, advanced concrete repair techniques, and focus on innovation in concrete restoration methodologies.
Applications are now open, and Bengoa is honored to support the next generation of concrete professionals. For more information on scholarship eligibility and submission details, please visit the application page here.
